Welcome

Honokaa’s downtown district as seen in this photo of Mamane Street, Downtown Honokaa 1943, has a quaint historic appeal that reflects our unique roots, yet supports the diverse needs of our growing population.  To truly appreciate and enjoy Honokaa, park your car and take a stroll down Mamane Street, talk with the people you meet, have lunch or a cup of excellent Hamakua grown coffee at Feel My Bean.  Take time to visit or ‘talk story’ with residents, fellow travelers and shop keepers as you shop for gifts, art and unique local treasures.  Find an adventure, enjoy a treat or just kick back and relax at the the legendary Hotel Honokaa Club or in one of the fine B&B’s in the area

The Historic Honokaa Peoples Theater is no museum! The theater not only shows current movies, it also provides  a stage, forum and gathering place for the community hosting local theater groups, political debates and support for many worthy causes both local and global in impact.

Ranching and diversified Agriculture are the primary industries in the Hamakua district. Visit JJ’s Country Store, featuring locally raised and grass fed beef, local farms or the Saturday Farmers’ Market, held on Māmane Street, to get a real taste of the area!
